Ingenuity Through Philosophy

14 Oct

The vision of INGENUITY THROUGH APPLIED PHILOSOPHY  is to provide a general understanding and working knowledge of the nature of philosophical processes and how they underly all great art and science.  For instance less than 200 years ago, the word ‘scientist’ did not even exist, and the work now done by scientists was done by what were up to then called Natural Philosophers, like Sir Isaac Newton.

Today I begin an ambitious philosophical journey that attempts to distil the essence of the programme I teach.

The journey begins around 14,000 years ago with unknown Chinese philosophers who wrote the BOOK OF CHANGES.  The journey will then take us into around seventy well known philosophies and arrive at amongst others, the philosophies of Carl Jung and the great British philosophers Dame Iris Murdoch and Nobel Prize winner Sir Bertrand Rusell.

I mention CARL JUNG in particular, because not only was he one of the founders of psychoanalysis, but also a great philosopher.  He was one of the founders of psychoanalysis precisely because he was a great philosopher.  He is the major contemporary link with the BOOK OF CHANGES, with which I commence the history of philosophy.

Ít is a good time to talk about Jung because he will come very much more to the fore of our ‘collective unconscious’ (a term Jung coined) soon, when the film “DANGEROUS MINDS,” starring Kiera Knightly, is released.

Jung’s theories are used in philosophical counselling to study the idea of psychological problems preventing us from developing towards a final spiritual goal.  For more information, see http://australasianconsultingphilosophers.com.au/philosophers.php.

As a teaser that goes deep, straight and direct into the heart of Jung territory, and opens the door to the power of the Book of Changes, watch this 3 MIN video on the SACRED RED BOOK: (http://www.ichingmeditations.com/2009/10/26/more-on-carl-jungs-the-red-book/).

In my next article I will begin the journey through history, going in depth into the  Book of Changes and how it is more than just a fortune-telling device.  I will reveal how it is used to reveal natural laws  to take into account when making personal, family, social and political decisions.

The book’s central concept is that there is a better and a worse way to conduct ourselves in any situation, and being wise is about finding and picking the way which is best.

Hope you are looking forward to this exciting journey as much as I am.
